Hawai‘i Masterpiece Team Project - Oil Pastel

Learning Objective - Students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate skills by creating an original work of art using OIL PASTEL materials, techniques, and process within a portfolio.

  2. Evaluate how the elements and principles of art can be used effectively in original artwork and works of others.

  3. Use themes, subjects, symbols, and metaphors in artwork to express concepts, issues, and/or personal opinions.

  4. Compare and use the function of artwork among cultures, careers, and historical periods to draw conclusions for art-work.

  5. Initiate and participate effectively in a range of collaborative discussions with diverse partners on grades 9-12 topics, texts, and issues, building on others’ ideas and expressing their own clearly and persuasively.

  6. Present information, findings, and supporting evidence clearly, concisely, and logically such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning and the organization, development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose, audience, and task.

21st Century Hawks worked in Collaborative Teams to created original works of art using oil pastel techniques to express themes, subjects, symbols and representations for Hawai‘i. We also practiced evaluating the elements of art and principles of design as each team member created a final art panel and combined each panel into one completely unified artistic theme, message, or expression for Hawai‘i.
